What does this quiz measure?

We're not asking "Are you mature?" We're asking "Once you're in a relationship, where do you naturally end up standing?" So older energy isn't the same as mature, and younger energy isn't the same as childish. You can totally have strong older energy and be extremely clingy at the same time.

Six dimensions

All 24 scenarios feed into six dimensions at once, and each one is scaled from 0 to 100.

ACaretakingCare

In love, how naturally do you slide into the caretaker role?

BLeadingLead

When the relationship needs someone to move things forward, are you that person?

CHolding SpaceHolding

When your person is having a rough time, are you more the one who catches them, or the one hoping to be caught?

DCraving ClosenessDependency

How much do you love being taken care of, replied to, and kept company?

ETaking OwnershipResponsibility

When a problem comes up, do you say "I'll handle it" or "I'd like them to handle it first"?

FPuppy-Love EnergyPlayfulness

Does love turn you into someone who goofs off, talks nonsense, and gets a little moody?

What the age gap means

The number lands between −8 and +8 years. Positive means you more often take the "older" spot in a relationship, negative means you more often take the "younger" spot, and close to 0 means you've got a bit of both.

How are the three age roles defined?
Age roleDisplayed love-age gapRole in a relationship
Older energy+1.5 to +8.0In a relationship, you're usually the one keeping an eye on things.
Same-age energy−1.4 to +1.4You two feel like equals walking side by side. Nobody's carrying anybody.
Younger energy−8.0 to −1.5With someone you like, you're willing to let your soft side show.

The love-age gap is rounded to one decimal place before classification using the ranges in this table. “Years” is a metaphor for your role in a relationship, not the actual age difference between you and your partner.

The closer you get to either end, the fewer people there are, so ±8 is really rare. It's a relative position, not a score, and neither end is better.

12 results

Your result is built from two axes: the age gap splits into older, same-age, and younger energy, and whichever of the four style indexes stands out most sets your style. Someone with older energy can still be the cuddly type. The two axes are read separately.

Not everyone gets the same result

The age gap only decides which energy band you're in. Which type you actually get depends on which of the four indexes is highest. Two people who both land at −2.8 years could get "Hug-Hungry Little Spoon" and "Underestimated Little Spoon." We also score Parts 1–3 (the you other people see) and Part 4 (the you who's really fallen for someone) separately, and the gap between those two numbers is your contrast type.

How to interpret and use this quiz

Love age describes the role you tend to take in a romantic relationship: looking after and guiding your partner, or feeling comfortable being cared for and asking for affection. The −8 to +8 year gap is a metaphor for these roles, not an actual age difference, mental age, or maturity score.

The questions and results are created by wuwenjing and scored using fixed rules: the same answers give the same result. Use it for self-reflection and conversations about your relationship, not to diagnose mental health, decide whether a partner is right for you, or predict a relationship's success.

FAQ

How is the Love Age Gap calculated?

Every answer choice adds to six dimensions: Caretaking, Leading, Holding Space, Craving Closeness, Taking Ownership, Puppy-Love Energy. Each dimension is scaled to 0–100. The dimensions that lean older are weighed against the ones that lean younger, and the difference is turned into a number between −8 and +8 years. The closer you get to either end, the fewer people land there.

How are the 12 types sorted?

By two axes. Your age gap puts you in one of 3 bands: older, same-age, or younger energy. Of the 4 style indexes (caring, cuddly, leading, playful), whichever stands out most sets your style. Together that makes 12 types. Someone with older energy can still be the cuddly type, because the two axes are read separately.

Will the same answers always give the same result?

Yes. Results come from fixed scoring rules, so the same set of answers gets the same result every time. If you retake it later, though, you might answer a few questions differently and your result can change with them, especially if your scores sit near the line between two types.

Is this a psychological test or a diagnosis?

No. It's a just-for-fun personality quiz, not a psychological assessment, medical diagnosis, or professional advice. Results are for self-reflection and entertainment only. If you're struggling with your feelings or a relationship, please talk to a qualified professional.

Does older energy mean being more mature?

No. Older energy means you more often take the looking-after, moving-things-forward role in a relationship. Younger energy means you're more comfortable being looked after and saying what you want. Neither is better, neither has anything to do with your actual age, and the same person can show up differently with a different partner.

What's a contrast type?

We score Parts 1–3 (the you other people see) separately from Part 4 (the you once you've really fallen for someone). The gap between those two numbers is your contrast type.
